Witnesses identified him as a Hispanic male, 5’7 feet tall, 180 pounds, and wearing a blue or turquoise shirt. They are still looking for the unknown suspect. “It’s pretty dynamic,” said Medford Chief of Police Tim George. They say they are keeping information private, and working aggressively to solve this case.Īccording to police, the first 72 hours are crucial in solving open investigations. However, they came out empty handed.Īt this time, police are not revealing how many residences they are searching or any kind of detailed plan of investigation. Police said they believed there was evidence or a subject at the house linked to the murder. On Monday afternoon, a SWAT team was deployed to search a house on McAndrews road. Police are gathering evidence and issuing search warrants in search of the suspect responsible for Sunday’s homicide. Police said they are investigating other residences in the West Medford area. SWAT, detectives, Medford Police Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s department were all at the house during the second raid Monday night. According to Sargent Brent Mak of the Medford Police Department, law officials believe the suspect could have been at the house earlier Monday, and had reason to believe he could have been there during the time of the second raid. Police raided the same house Monday afternoon. However, they did not find what they were looking for according to Medford Police. Monday night police raided a house on the 2000 block of west McAndrews Road. “There’s a lot of accusations and a lot of rumors, I don’t know what to think,” said Westergard. Westergard said he doesn’t know what’s been going on and is more cautious now. like i said, these are active investigations so time is of the essence,” said Bowles. “We are interviewing people and using the polygraph examinations, we’ve done quite a few of those. The two homicides are active investigations and police are working with other agencies to make sure the murders aren’t tied to any other crimes. “These cases, the two homicides in Yreka, at this point in time, are not linked, at all to each other,” said Chief Bowles. Police said despite their locations none of the deaths appear to be connected. The body found in November was Christopher Schafer and the body found July 9th has been identified as 62 year-old Henry Cooper.
“We had an officer attend that pathology, the coroner’s pathology investigation and the pathologist informed us that the death is of natural causes,” said Yreka Police Chief Brian Bowles. Police received the results of the third body Tuesday and are now ruling out foul play. No homeless could be seen camped along Yreka Creek Tuesday afternoon after Yreka Police swept the area after a third body in eight months turned up. “There are no resources here anymore, they’re pretty much cutting everything out,” said Westergard. Homeless man Joseph Westergard said things have changed. There are no shelters, no steady food donations, but still a large homeless population in Yreka. Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey also says the extradition process will likely be completed on Monday. “There were some inconsistencies and there were some concerns that we had about the statements we received from individuals that were identified and interviewed during the investigation,” he said. MacCallum and Lubbers are in the Jackson County Jail and will soon be extradited to California for the duration of the criminal prosecution. MacCallum and another person, Amber Lubbers, were arrested Friday evening and charged with premeditated murder. The Siskiyou County Sheriff says an exhaustive investigation by multiple agencies lead to the charges. “She played the part of a grieving spouse searching for her lost husband and it was somewhat unusual that she would grant interviews with the news media,” the Sheriff said. The Siskiyou County Sheriff believes Patricia’s behavior after the death was somewhat unusual. She told police he didn’t return from a camping trip. His wife, Patricia MacCallum originally reported him missing. His body was found November 20th by search and rescue crews. Michael Christopher MacCallum was found dead of a gunshot wound at the bottom of steep cliff just over the Oregon/California boarder in Siskiyou County. The wife of murdered Medford man is in jail charged with his death.
